Cadets pursuing a BSN receive guaranteed placement into the University of Illinois Nursing Program. Academic advising coordinates nursing coursework with ROTC requirements so you graduate on time and commission as an Army Nurse (2LT).
Law Pathway
Through the Educational Delay (Ed Delay) program, selected cadets postpone active duty to attend law school — including the U of I College of Law. After earning a JD and passing the bar, officers access the Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps.
Medical Pathway
Cadets pursuing medicine use Ed Delay to attend medical school, including the U of I College of Medicine. Upon completion of residency, officers commission into the Army Medical Corps as physicians leading medical teams worldwide.
Chaplaincy Pathway
Cadets called to ministry pursue chaplaincy through Ed Delay for graduate theological education and ecclesiastical endorsement. Choose between Active Duty or Guard/Reserve service in the U.S. Army Chaplain Corps.
What is Educational Delay?
The Ed Delay program allows commissioned officers to postpone active duty service to complete advanced graduate or professional education — including law, medicine, and theology. During this period, officers serve in the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) and focus entirely on their studies before entering active service.
